Zelensky says Russia hit six energy sites after Trump announced ceasefire
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said Russia struck six Ukrainian energy facilities just hours after US President Donald Trump announced that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to an energy ceasefire.
Trump had said the truce would take effect immediately, but Zelensky said Russian forces had targeted gas stations, energy infrastructure and other facilities across Ukraine.
Ukraine's state news agency Ukrinform reported that a Russian strike destroyed power grids in the city of Izyum, causing blackouts, while energy and railway infrastructure in western Ukraine were also hit overnight.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Monday that Ukraine did not deserve the relief a ceasefire would provide.
Zelensky said 33 people were injured in the strikes on energy facilities across the country.
